Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

We are adjacent to Lidl, opposite My Lady Church, on the side road which runs parallel to East Meadway.

The gym is far bigger than it appears from the outside so do come and have a tour.

How do I pay for membership?

There is a monthly fee payable by direct debit or you can opt for a cash membership.

There are no additional fees payable for visiting the gym.

There is a minimum term of two months membership and one month's notice for rolling memberships.

(Sunbeds/Retail products are not included in membership and are optional extras)

No bank account?

Should you not wish to have a monthly payment, you can purchase a year in advance membership or a Daypass for £8.50 per session or a month for £35. (Please note: Photo identification is still required)

I have cancelled my direct debit

Cancelling your direct debit does not cancel your membership. If this was by accident, you can reinstate your direct debit in the members area  or you can complete a new instruction at reception. If you are unsure about any aspect of your membership, please speak to one of our friendly team members.

What's the difference between a peak and an off peak membership?

The only difference beside price between the two main membership types is that Off Peak excludes use of the gym Monday-Thursday between the hours 6:00am-6:30am and 4:00pm (last entry at 3pm) to 8:30pm. (Weekends, Friday included have no restrictions)

Peak Membership has no restrictions at all.  Special offer memberships may be subject to different hours. Please check with staff before joining.

What are your prices?

The first thing is to decide what times you will be working out. There are not many more frustrating things than arriving, kitted out and ready to work out to be told your membership does not allow access at that time.

So if you want to work out anytime, choose a PEAK membership.

Peak membership starts at £25 per month. This is a rolling month to month membership, payable by direct debit. There is a minimum of 2 months membership and 30 days notice.

Should you not want to pay by direct debit or prefer something more casual, a monthly membership is £35. This does not automatically renew.

A full year paid upfront is £263.50.

Administration/joining fees change according to special offers and member numbers so please check with us/website at the time of joining.

If you are okay to work out during school hours, an OFF PEAK membership will work for you. Off Peak access hours are restricted, no access from 6am-6:30am and no access 4pm (must be in by 3 and out by 4) to 8:30pm Monday to Thursday. There are no restrictions Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Off Peak membership starts at £20 per month (payable by direct debit) There is a minimum of 2 months membership and 30 days notice.

A full year off peak paid upfront is £206.50.

You can also select a daypass which allows one day access to the gym. Should you choose to join on a more committed membership (within 48 hours) after your daypass, the £8.50 cost will be deducted from your second month's membership. Please inform reception.

How old do I need to be to join?

Membership is open to persons 14 years and older. Members under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Members under 18 will be unable to join online and must join at the Club. Should a different person be responsible for payment, they must accompany the member as there is documentation that needs to be signed.

What's included?

All memberships include FREE personal training sessions (approximately one hour in length) with a personal trainer which results in a customized workout programme. You are entitled to an hour free on your first and second visit to the gym and thereafter, approximately, once every 8 weeks (or if there is high availability, as often as you like).

Full Use of the Saunas (Separate Male and Female Sauna) Saunas must be booked.

What Equipment does B-Active have?

It would be quicker to say what we don't have! But to give you an idea, Olympic Lifting Platform, Powerplate Vibrating Plate Exerciser, Bikes, Treadmills, Queenax Functional Training Rig, Huge range of dumbbells, Huge range of Resistance Equipment, Stairmaster, Stepper, Dual Pulley Machines, Boxing Bag, XT Bike, Concept 2 Rowers and lots more! See here.

Personal Training for free? What's the catch?

There is no catch, we want you to get the help you need to help you succeed and no, the Personal Trainers will NOT try and sell you paid sessions during your free sessions. In fact, you will never be under any pressure by a Personal Trainer trying to sell you sessions. You are entitled to 2 free sessions at the commencement of your membership and 1 session every 8 weeks thereafter. (You must be a current, paid up member to enjoy any of the services offered)

Can I freeze my Membership?

Freezing of membership is only possible for medical reasons and with necessary evidence.

Want to try it out first?

A Guest Day Pass allows one day of gym usage.  You will not be assisted by a member of staff, you will not get an exercise programme and you need not book. You can enjoy as many Guest Day Passes as you wish at a cost of £8.50 per day.

Should you (within 48 hours) decide to join on a monthly membership, the £8.50 will be credited to your new membership.

How do I cancel my membership?

Before cancelling, assess the reasons why you joined the gym in the first place and why you are cancelling. If are bored with your workout or just not getting the results you were hoping for; speak to one of our Personal Trainers. They will book you in for a Personal Training Session (free of charge) and do their best to motivate and assist you to get the most benefits from your membership and to ultimately, achieve your goals.

Remember: If you have not successfully incorporated fitness into your life, you must be patient, it can take time to see benefits and to enjoy that feel good factor that makes you want to do it. Consistency is key. Just making yourself do a little bit each week and slowly increasing your activity can make a huge difference to the rest of your life. Schedule it in, trick yourself: Tell yourself you are off the hook if you go to the gym for 15 minutes. When you get to the gym, do cardio at a reasonable pace (not a slow walk or slow motion row, you need to get your heart rate up!)

Being fit and healthy improves confidence and is your number one defence against a myriad of physical and mental illnesses.

If you still would like to cancel, please complete a cancellation form at the facility. Ensure you receive a cancellation receipt as no refunds will be given without one.

It is important that you are aware that should you cancel your membership, you will be liable to pay any admin/joining fees and current membership rates should you wish to re-join.

Full cancellation Policy

How do I get a refund?
